Kleptocracy

Good day, good people.

For devotees of the English language: Exordium is the beginning of a post.

My exordium is: Kleptocracy is the cheating, lying by commission and omission and stealing by members of Congress to enrich themselves at the expense of their employers, the American taxpayers.

Unless you have been living in a vacuum in a cave, kleptocracy is ongoing, never ending and pervasive in Congress, the financial services companies and banks with Goldman Sachs leading the parade of defrauded customers during the Dick Cheney administration. It is the direct cause of your present financial difficulties. He prospered handsomely in his eight years in office; Cheney entered with a net worth of two million and exited with a net worth of one hundred million, no surprise.

Lest we forget, this is the same Cheney who led his cabal into going to war illegally in Iraq and successfully murdered our military personnel, the military personnel of Iraq and civilians on both sides. When is he going to be held accountable for his crimes? Fortunately, he failed in his attempt to establish an unitary presidency and shift our democracy toward fascism.

The kleptocrats, also known as corrupticians, are the members of Congress who fleece their employer, the American taxpayer, by representing themselves first to increase their wealth by accepting bribes, not disguised as campaign contributions and other perquisites, to deliver what the contributor pays for. Next, they represent the contributor, then their constituents and finally their employer. And when their misconduct goes awry, they fleece their employers again to correct their corruption.

Kleptocrats live in a Me Society. They remind me of the missionaries whom went to Hawaii in the nineteenth century to do good — or did they and did well. Corrupticians go to Congress as a business opportunity without knowing or caring about the definition of public service.

A kleptocracy reminds me of the two fellows who are standing on a corner in a small town. One asked the other, “What are you going to do this evening?” The other answered, “I’m going over to Joe’s and do a little gambling.” The one said, “But the game is crooked.” The other answered, “Yes I know, but it’s the only game in town.” Now, good people, you know what a kleptocracy is.

Members of the Me Society believe they are above the law and for good reason. None of the thieves, CEOs, in the financial services institutions who defrauded their customers have been indicted, prosecuted, convicted or sent to prison.

Why would the Congress pass a law preventing members of Congress from insider trading, if the members had not been previously engaged in insider trading, a felony, without being indicted?

Why do the American people, the punters and suckers, tolerate this outrageous behavior by the fleecers, the kleptocrats and corrupticians? Where is the outrage?

So, what are we going to do about it? How do we force Congress to put in place effective ethics rules and the essential regulations of financial services organization’s which will protect the American people from the financial predators they all really are? And, while you are pondering these questions, read Operation Downfall, and see what one person, Mariah O’Leary, did about it.
